Volcano Terms

4th Graders! As we visit the volcanoes on the Big Island, we want to have a strong knowledge of what a volcano is and how it works.  We have been studying volcanoes in class, but let's take it a step further.  As you research Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and Kilauea, you will come across terms that may be unfamiliar, such as dormant volcano, active volcano, lava, magma, ash, or basalt.  When you find a word that you don't know, look it up and post it to the blog.  By the end we will have a glossary of volcanic terms!
